Organizing cancer detection and general health check-up camps for women plays a crucial role in early disease detection and promoting overall well-being. These initiatives are particularly vital in low-resource settings, where access to regular healthcare may be limited. Thus with supported by CottonConnect Farmer Community Foundation and organised by Shikshan Ane Samaj Kalyan Kendra, the Cancer Detection camp at Bhadva (Rajkot), Babara, Khadadhar, Damnagar (Amreli), Gangada and Samter (Gir Somnath) on 03 March 2025 to 08 March 2025.
We also got support from Alipore Social Welfare Trust – Alipore Hospital and Rotary Club of Chikhali Riverfront for medical van and Primary Health Centres of our area for space and other arrangements.
Cancer detection camps for women focus on early identification of cancers, which significantly improves treatment outcomes. In rural Gujarat, India, a camp utilized effective screening methods like Mammogram, Pap smear and X – ray for breast cancer and cervical cancer. Camps were organised at Bhadva (Rajkot), Babara, Khadadhar, Damnagar (Amreli), Gangada and Samter (Gir Somnath). Total 447 participants were screened, leading to the detection of pre-cancerous lesions and early-stage cancers, underscoring the effectiveness of these basic screening techniques in resource-constrained environments.
Similarly, this initiative for cancer early diagnosis awareness program was implemented across various area of our program. Implementing such camps requires careful planning, including community outreach to raise awareness, collaboration with healthcare professionals and institutions, and the use of appropriate screening methods tailored to the community’s needs. These efforts not only aid in the early detection of health issues but also empower women with knowledge about their health, leading to better health outcomes.
